When I first spoke with Scarlett’s mummy about this shoot, we both really wanted to capture The First Day Moment – that one where your child is all dressed up in those shiny shoes for the first time, when they get to have their first run around to check everything fits and everything’s comfy – and so I was delighted to be able to style this session for this adorable girl to mark the start of her very first school year in Reception class.

We popped to the local woods in Brentwood, with a vintage school desk (hands up who had one of these?!) and some even older books in tow. And then we played…

I love this shoot, it brings back so much of the excitement for me as my own girl starts Year 1 today, with her first wobbly tooth to match her slightly wobbly mum at the school gates!
